An independent feature film of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth starring Sean Bean, Rupert Grint and Charles Dance has almost raised half of the $250 000 they are seeking on the crowd-funding website Kickstarter.
Enemy of Man is the brainchild of the British actor Vincent Regan, who has starred in several historical epics including 300, Troy and The Messenger. He has already signed up Sean Bean and Charles Dance, who recently worked together on Game of Thrones, along with Rupert Grint, James D’Arcy and Jason Flemyng.

The film is described as “a unique cinematic quality, stripping back the dialogue and cranking up the action. It traverses a bleak, frozen landscape of shattered castles and pillaged towns, rendering the interior world that clouds Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s addled minds, as they sink deeper into their heart of darkness. A timeless masterpiece of war, ambition, betrayal, murder and ultimately, revenge.”
The Kickstarter campaign hopes to raise $250 000 by April 6th, and has already found over 900 backers. Regan explains “All money raised from this campaign will go towards taking the film into pre-production. This will allow us to create the concept art, storyboards, scout locations and begin work on the costumes, sets, and a host of other things. Having all those additional elements in place will help us secure the final production budget.”
