Medieval Chinese and Inner-Asian Politics

This week’s guest on the Medieval Grad Podcast is Soojung Han, a PhD candidate in East Asian studies at Princeton University. Soojung Han talks with Lucie Laumonier about the Shatuo Turks who rose to power in the ninth century, after the fall of the Tang dynasty.

Soojung Han is currently writing her dissertation on the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, giving special attention to the Shatuo Turks and the Khitans, and their roles in shaping the political landscape of this period. In 2021 she won the Graduate Student Award at the Early Medieval China Group (EMCG) Conference. To learn more about her work, please visit Soojung Han’s university webpage.
