Embodying the Soul with Meg Leja

This week, Danièle speaks with Meg Leja about the relationship between bodies and souls in medical thought in the early Middle Ages, why people were meant to care deeply for both, and where medieval people believed the soul to be located in the body.

Meg Leja is an Associate Professor at Binghampton University, where she specializes in the political and cultural history of late antique and medieval Europe. Her first book is Embodying the Soul: Medicine and Religion in Carolingian Europe, published with the University of Pennsylvania Press in 2022.
