Call for Papers: Place, Space, and the Cult of Saints: Defining and Transcending Boundaries in the Medieval World

Call for Papers: International Medieval Congress, July 2022

Seeking proposals for a paper to round out a session at IMC Leeds, 2022, centered on the role of place, in either a static or dynamic sense, within the cult of saints. The session, tentatively titled “Place, Space, and the Cult of Saints: Defining and Transcending Boundaries in the Medieval World” is still fairly open-ended, and we would welcome proposals that incorporate an eco-critical approach, a concern with transnationalism or shifting boundaries, and/or papers that interpret the term “medieval” widely. The two papers already lined up deal with the visual arts in Frankish-occupied Cyprus and 13th-century England, and we would be happy to include papers from a range of disciplines.

Please send proposals (including a title, an informal, short abstract and a cv) or questions to Kathryn Gerry at [email protected]; they are aiming to have everything in place by mid-August, so if you are interested, please try to get the proposal in by 10 August.
