Medieval garbage in Leiden University Library

Dr. Erik Kwakkel discovered a remarkable manuscript in the rich medieval book collection of Leiden University Libraries. It concerns a book from the first half of the eleventh century that is made out of leftovers from animal skins which had been processed to parchment. This is a unique find: never before has such a book been found in a Dutch collection.
