A new French-language streaming service is being launched that aims to give viewers access to all things from the Middle Ages. Medieval TV is now collecting subscriptions with hopes to launch on March 1st.
The SVoD – Subscription Video On Demand – service will bring together some of the best French-language Youtubers and medievalists to offer a wide range of shows. Billing itself the Netflix of medieval culture, they will offer at least four hours of new and exclusive content each month.
Among the programmes being offered is:
LA QUÊTE DU GRAAL – a quiz show
LES CONTES DU VIEUX GRIMOIRE – a look at medieval tales and legends
TROBAR – a medieval version of MTV Unplugged
24 HEURES DANS LE MOYEN ÂGE DE…
ARS & MANUFACTURA – medieval arts and crafts
DES PIERRES QUI PARLENT – revealing the secrets of great builders
D’UNE HISTOIRE A L’AUTRE – a look at the ‘other Middle Ages’
SECRETS D’ENLUMINURES – on medieval manuscripts and their illuminations
TOURNEBROCHE – medieval food and cuisine
TRIBUO – a show about historical re-enactments
David Frécinaux, the creator of Medieval TV, explains, “We believe that the Middle Ages is not just a series of clichés. It is a thousand years of fascinating history (and stories), an extremely rich and intense period. We want to invite you to discover this Middle Ages as we see it, as we love it and in the most complete, intense and lively way possible.”
