Building Medieval Plate Armor: An Operator’s Guide

Building Medieval Plate Armor: An Operator’s Guide

Lecture by Tobias Capwell

Given at Orange Coast College in October 2014

Dr. Tobias Capwell, arms and armor curator at the Wallace Collection in London, gave a talk at Orange Coast College in October 2014 to an audience of HEMA enthusiasts and medieval reenactors. The subject was how understanding the design and function of real medieval plate armor can help someone build their own suit of armor in a more historically accurate and properly functional way. Dr. Capwell’s talk included plenty of details from his own experience designing and overseeing the creation of three of his own outstanding armors.
