Excerpt:

The history of Mongol expansion towards Europe has by now unassailably earned itself its own place in historical research. The interaction of fundamentally different civilizations, the clashes between them in great military campaigns, and the communication of all of this have rightly attracted the attention of historian, as has the new world order created by the Mongols. Interest in this field has now awakened even in parts of the world far away from the countries directly affected. More and more new questions and previously unexplored approaches have emerged, and new discoveries are certain to result from future investigations.
