How the borders of Wessex changed in the Anglo-Saxon Era

This video created by Ollie Bye shows the development of the Kingdom of Wessex between the years 495 and 927. It begins with the arrival Cerdic in Britain with five ships in 495, and the establishment of his own state along the southern coast of England. The video charts how this kingdom gradually grew, to the point where King Athelstan conquered Northumbria, bringing the whole of England under one ruler for the first time.
