King John gets his own App!

Anthem Press has just released an app for iPhones and iPads that looks at the reign of King John of England. Produced in in collaboration with Graham Seel, who wrote the book, King John: An Underrated King, it is free to download.

Here is the official description of the app: This is an interactive app which explores the reign of King John from 1199 until 1216, and aims to restore the reputation of this much-maligned king. Users will find the app both enriching and relevant as we approach the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, issued by King John in 1215.

Clear, concise and beautiful presentations of primary sources work in tandem with zoomable maps and images to illustrate the key events of King John’s reign. The app gives users the unique opportunity to evaluate the deeds of King John using an interactive judgement tool that also records the user’s reasoning behind their opinions. When all the topics have been examined the app calculates a final judgement, revealing to the user their true feelings about King John.

The review section contains a useful summary, areas for further discussion, source questions and a self-marking quiz. For the student, specialist and anyone with an interest in history, this really is a must-have!
