Charlemagne (c.742-814)

You have many names – among them Charles the Great and King of the Franks. You could say that you like to be in charge. You ruled over a vast empire – even getting crowned as the emperor of the Romans by Pope Leo III – and spent most of your days using military campaigns to expand your reign and convert your subjects to Christianity.
But you’re not all about fighting; you have a reflective side and influenced the Carolingian Renaissance, a huge intellectual and cultural revival in Europe.

Dante (c. 1265-1320)

You are a poet, a philosopher and a cultural icon whose legacy will live on for generations. Your epic poem, The Divine Comedy, is considered a masterpiece, a study of literature, theology, politics, science and morality.
People also credit you with being the father of the modern Italian language, and you have influenced countless writers, from T.S. Eliot to James Joyce. Molto impressionante!

Joan of Arc (c. 1412–1431)

You are courageous, dedicated and passionate about your beliefs. When you were only a teenager with no military training, you used your strength and powers of persuasion to lead the French army to victory over the British at Orléans.
Though you met an untimely end when you were only 19, you were later canonized as a Roman Catholic saint, and you are the patroness of France and soldiers.

leif Erikson (c. 1000-1100)

You are a fearless Norse explorer who many believe to be the first European to reach North America (around 400 years before Christopher Columbus). You are tough, shrewd and fast-thinking – skills that helped you survive brutal winters in your native Greenland and dangerous sailing trips to North America.
You even have your own holiday in the United States – October 9 is Leif Erikson Day.
