Professor Marnie Hughes-Warrington of the Australian National University is currently working on a book entitled History as Wonder. It looks back at the role of wonder in philosophy, going back to Aristotle. She asks:
Does the connection of wonder with changes and origins mean that history begins with wonder too? In my new book project, I test this question through a range of ancient and modern histories and philosophies of wonder, from Aristotle and Polybius, to Hobbes and eighteenth century world histories to Joan Wallach Scott and Luce Irigaray.
