The Borgias return for a second season

Billed as the “world’s first crime family”, the Borgias second season begins airing tonight on Showtime in the United States and Bravo in Canada. The TV series chronicles the life of Rodrigo Borgia/Pope Alexander VI and his family in late medieval Italy – a story of war, treachery and love sex.

Ten episodes will air this season – the first, entitled ‘The Borgia Bull’ begins with Pope Alexander VI taking a new lover and hosting a swank party in Rome where a cache of ancient artifacts is discovered. Meanwhile, the rivalry between the Borgia brothers Cesare and Juan spills into the streets. And Pope Alexander’s nemesis, Della Rovere narrowly escapes an assassination attempt.
