Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government’s heritage service, has announced that Old Beaupré Castle in southern Wales will re-open following its closure due to essential structural and conservation works on its magnificently carved Renaissance porch. The medieval manor house castle will open its doors again on Friday 18 March ready to welcome visitors.
Old Beaupré Castle dates from the 14th century and was modified during the Tudor period. Also known as Beawpire, Bewerpere, Bewpyr and Y Bewpur, the castle includes several medieval buildings that are in good condition.
Jayne Rowlands, Cadw’s Head of Visitor Services said, “Essential works on the inner porch have been required to keep this magnificent manor house in a good state of repair. I’m delighted that the work has now finished and I’d like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the work has been carried out.”
