Excerpt: My own interest is from 1066, the Norman Conquest, up to about 1530, but medieval literature would cover everything from the beginnings of English literature in about 700 or 800, up to 1530. The absolutely crucial difference is that it is all in manuscript. The coming of print culture at the end of the Middle Ages altered everything.
